IT&T Gets Rs. 718 Mln for Development in 2010-11

The government has allocated an amount of Rs 718.317 million for ongoing and new schemes for Information Technology & Telecom sector under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the Year 2010-11.
Interestingly, only two schemes have been allocated funds which included the laying of Cross-Border Opticle Fibre Cable System between China and Pakistan for Voice & Data traffic with Rs 5 million while Rs 20.676 million have been allocated for Strengthening of Server Room at Ministry of IT at Islamabad.
In IT sector, the government has allocated Rs 692.641 million for the ongoing schemes while Rs 25.676 million have been allocated for two new schemes.
As per details of the allocation for different projects ongoing projects, Rs 60 million have been allocated for Federal Govt Data Center & Intranet at Islamabad. Another Rs 50 million have been allocated for application of E-Office (Basic Common Applications at all divisions of the federal govt.).
Rs 20.325 million have been allocated for phase-III of Internships at Islamabad.
In Telecom Sector, Rs 63.187 have been allocated for an ongoing project of Inter-Connect Billing & Customer Support System for SCOs while Rs 74.975 million are being earmarked for National ICT Scholarship Programme.
Another Rs 51.191 have been budgeted for GSM Expansion of Gilgit-Baltistan while Rs 17.049 million have been earmarked for Gilgit-Baltistan Terrestrial Link Microwave.
