Warid Brings SMS Blocker!

After the recent launch of Warid call block service, Warid now brings the SMS blocking facility to block all those annoying and unwanted SMS.
Simply follow the instructions provided below and get control over your incoming SMS traffic:
Procedure:

• In order to block SMS from a particular number just send “block”0321xxxxxxx in a SMS to 430.
• The request shall be logged at Warid’s end and will be verified within 24 hours in case of an On-net SMS blocking request or 48 hours for an Off-net SMS blocking request.
• Once the request has been verified the obnoxious user shall be warned the first time.
• In case of another complaint to the same number the outgoing SMS facility shall be barred.
• You will be informed regarding the action taken against the complaint after your request has been processed from our end.

Charges:
Charges of Rs. 1+tax per SMS shall be applicable.
It is interesting to note here that Warid has introduced Call and Sms block as separate services with separate charges.

Warid Song Search and Caller Tunes

Warid has come up with new offer for its song loving customers, now they can set their favorite song as caller tune. Warid customers can now search for their favorite song’s caller tune and write the song name and send an SMS to 7172.
Charges:
The subscription charges for this service are Rs. 0.50+tax per SMS. This service is valid for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
Subscription:

• Send the name of your favourite CallerTune to 7172 for example writes as “dil dil Pakistan” and send an SMS.
• If desired CallerTune of the subscriber would not be found, then an SMS will be sent with the tone ID and name of the song.
• Reply to this SMS with the tone ID of the song and CallerTune will be automatically activated.
• Customers can avail this offer even if they are unaware of the full name of the song, by sending the first word of the song in an SMS to 7172, for example write ‘dil’ and send an SMS. You will be sent some top results for the songs that have the word ‘dil’ in them along with their tone ID’s.

Warid Glow Free GPRS

Warid’s Glow Free GPRS hack is on the rise these days, many well-known forums have made image guided and video lessons to teach you how to activate this hack and how to use the GPRS for free to connect PC internet, some individuals also released modded versions of many java apps.

Warid and Seven Other Singtel Networks Working on One-Rate Roaming

Sintel is planning to introduce single-rate mobile roaming in at least 8 regions where it has full or partial investments, reported ITP, a technology website from Middle East.
Initial reports suggest that Warid Telecom of Pakistan, India’s Bharti Aitel, and Globe Telecom in the Philippines will be part of this singe-rate roaming plan.
Quoting Muneer Farooqui, CEO, Warid Telecom, ITP said that this single-rate roaming will surface by early 2011.

We call it ‘one network, one roaming charge’. We are working on it by the end of the year, at least amongst the eight operations of Singtel. Hopefully it will be in the market by the turn of the year.

Warid Donated Rs 800,000 in University Endowment Fund Trust of GCU

The Warid Telecom on Wednesday joined hands with Government College University Endowment Fund Trust (GCU EFT) by donating Rs 800,000 to meet academic expenses of its bright and deserving students. The Warid Telecom Sales and Distribution Head Amer Aman Khan handed over the cheque to GCU Dean of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Khalid Perviaz in a ceremony held in this regard at GCU Syndicate Committee Room on Wednesday. GCU Registrar Shahibzada Faisal Khursheed, EFT Executive Committee Professor Khalid Manzoor Butt and Warid officials also present.
Addessing the ceremony, Dr Khalid Perviaz said the world over universities have come forward by establishing their endowment funds with the help of their old students and corporate sector. “Harvard University has an endowment fund of $25.474 billion, Yale has $15.225 billion and a small university like the University of Virginia has endowment fund of $3.219 billion,” he added. However, he said, the GCU is the only public sector university in Pakistan, which has an active endowment fund giving scholarships to deserving students.
Briefing the Warid officials about GCU EFT lifetime scholarship schemes, Prof. Butt said that they had initiated 23 lifetime scholarships for deserving students which include 11 golden and 12 sliver scholarships. “A golden scholarship covers the university fee as well as hostel expenses of a deserving student, while a sliver scholarship covers the university fee only,” he added.

Following the footsteps of Zong, Telenor and Ufone, Warid is soon going to launch the call block service named as “Call Block 9211“, This service enables you to block annoying calls from any number so you can enjoy the freedom of control.

Warid Supports National Polio Immunization Drive

Warid Telecom (Pvt.) Ltd, socially responsible corporate citizen in its efforts to make Pakistan a polio free country once again supports National Polio Immunization Drive by running an awareness campaign.

Warid Glow Celebrated Soccer Mania

Warid Glow organized screening of knock out stages of FIFA World Cup 2010 which was the most popular and awaited event of the year.

Warid Delivery Reports are Back, No, They are Not

ust now, Warid has enabled SMS delivery reports on its network, which were blocked three weeks ago. Warid had taken back delivery reports without communicating the reasons or the date for turning them back on.
As per multiple reports from ProPakistani readers, Warid SMS Delivery Reports got back at 12:00 AM tonight – and that too without any charges and/or subscription. and then disappeared again at 12:20 AM.

Warid SMS Delivery Reports are offered to all subscribers by default as a free service (at least for now).
Warid customers had protested over the termination of SMS Delivery Reports, while many had threatened the company to port out.
Ufone charges Rs. 10 plus tax per month for SMS delivery reports.
Update: We are getting reports from readers that Warid Delivery Reports are again gone – so apparently it was a just a system glitch, which can further annoy the customers.
Warid customer support said that Delivery Reports are temporarily disabled till any further notice.
